"More than a decade ago, Pennsylvania's Act 44 was passed under the misguided assumption that the federal government would grant the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission permission to place tolls across the I-80 corridor. That ill-advised plan was met with great opposition from grassroots activists, the business community, and local lawmakers, who refused to sit by and allow years of mismanagement and questionable practices to go unchecked. Corruption was exposed, Turnpike associates went to jail, and there was a victory for the public good.

"The violence at the U.S. Capitol last week was a gruesome and senseless display, and I remain hopeful President Trump will address the nation to encourage a peaceful transition for the swearing-in of President-Elect Biden on January 20th. Emotions are running high and this has led to an impromptu article of impeachment, something the framers of our Constitution intended to be a deliberate process.

"I unequivocally support the right to peacefully assemble, but what occurred today at the U.S. Capitol was senseless, violent and destructive—and counter to American values.

My staff and I are safe, thanks to the efforts of the Capitol Police, who have been working tirelessly to reinstate the peace. This was a sad day for our nation and totally unacceptable."

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an additional COVID-19 relief package which includes $13 billion in support for the agriculture industry. The legislation provides continued direct relief for producers, additional emergency nutrition assistance, support for food purchases, and funding for rural broadband.

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an additional COVID-19 relief package amounting to $900 billion. The legislation includes Congressman Thompson's bill, the LOCAL Act, which will extend the deadline to spend Coronavirus Relief Funds for one year, to December 31, 2021.
