Thompson Announces Appointment of William Rishel to the U.S. Air Force Academy
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson today announced that Mr. William Rishel, of Philipsburg, has accepted a fully-qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Rishel is a graduate of Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School, and he is the son of Jason and Ann Rishel. He is the grandson of Gary and Ellen Rishel of Lock Haven; the late Gerry Rishel of Lock Haven; Jim and Linda Leonard of McElhattan; and Richard and Margaret Sanders of Loganton.
Rishel has one sister, Paige Rishel, a junior at Philipsburg-Osceola Area High School.
"William's commitment to service is an inspiration to us all," Rep. Thompson said. "We've seen his leadership in his academic pursuits and in service to his community. I wish him the best of luck at the Air Force Academy."
Rishel is a first-year student at the Pennsylvania State University and an active member of Air Force ROTC Detachment 720.
