WASHINGTON, DC– Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act by a voice vote. The bill includes an expansion of unemployment insurance, relief and resources for health care providers, and more.
Congressman Glenn GT Thompson says his vision for the House Ag Committee in terms of policy is to restore a robust rural economy and rebuild rural America.
"That means every farm family is doing well, we need to have rural communities be financially viable and it starts with agriculture," he says. "Number two, my second vision is it's time to repopulate and rebuild rural America."
Thompson, of Pennsylvania, says improving and expanding broadband access will help achieve that goal.

BROOKVILLE, PA– The office of Congressman Glenn 'GT' Thompson is now accepting entries for the 2020 Congressional Art Competition. Since 1982, the Congressional Art Competition has provided Members of Congress the opportunity to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of young constituents. Over the years, more than 650,000 students have participated.
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson announced Thursday that McKean County will receive an $11.9 million Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) grant from the Federal Railroad Administration.
Specifically, the funds will be used for the McKean, Venango and Crawford counties' Freight Rail Capacity and Safety Enhancement Project to improve rail service in rural communities, according to a news release from Thompson's office.
