Thompson edged out Reps. Austin Scott (R-Ga.) and Rick Crawford (R-Ark.).
Both parties have now selected their leaders for the House Ag Committee. The Republican steering committee voted Wednesday and chose Glenn "GT" Thompson from Pennsylvania to take over when Texas Congressman Michael Conaway retires.
Democrats selected Georgia Congressman David Scott Tuesday, replacing Minnesota's long-time chair Collin Peterson.
On Friday, Congressman Glenn Thompson was unanimously re-elected to the Republican Steering Committee by 14 of his colleagues who represent both Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
The Steering Committee is comprised of 30 members of the House Republican Conference, including party and conference leadership, as well as committee chairs and regional representatives.

On Tuesday, Congressman Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., joined Congresswoman Abby Finkenauer, D-Iowa, to introduce the bipartisan Growing Opportunities in Agriculture (GO AG) Act to improve agriculture education opportunities in our schools.
The bipartisan legislation would create grants available to high schools to cover the cost of starting an agriculture education program.
