RESSON – U.S. Rep. Glenn "G.T." Thompson issued three challenges during the third annual Agriculture Summit at Mount Aloysius College on Monday.

Thompson, the House Committee on Agriculture's GOP leader, called upon schools to establish or expand agriculture programs and asked land grant universities to continue getting the word out about what farmers, ranchers and foresters do to help the environment and the climate.

He then emphasized the role "all of us" could play.

The POWER Act (H.R. 4781) reauthorizes the federal orphan well remediation program under the Energy Policy Act of 2005 for five years at $50 million per year.

Congressman Glenn Thompson is looking for a way to build bridges on Interstate 80 without placing tolls on them.

In March, PennDOT released a plan to toll nine high impact bridges on several interstate highways, including four on I-80. The plan, part of the state's "Pathways Program", includes the I-80 bridges over Canoe Creek in Clarion County and the North Fork bridges in Jefferson County.

This funding will support the Workforce Through Apprenticeships in Early Learning program by providing ten apprenticeships across eight communities creating fifteen new jobs.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of former Congressman Bill Clinger. He was a statesman, scholar, and passionate advocate for the people of Pennsylvania. I have a fond memory of meeting with Bill. He was gracious enough to invite me to his home, where we sat and talked all things Pennsylvania for hours. That experience will stay with me for my lifetime, I am grateful to have met Bill Clinger. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones as they mourn his loss."
