Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), a member of the House Agriculture Committee, will again host a public meeting during Penn State University’s Ag Progress Days in Pennsylvania Furnace. Also appearing and participating in the discussion will be Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. Among the topics expected to be discussed include the general state of agriculture across Pennsylvania, as well as the 2014 Farm Bill, which contains important provisions with regard to research, dairy, conservation, forestry and nutrition.

Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that starting July 1, 2015, dairy farmers can enroll in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Margin Protection Program for coverage in 2016. Established by the 2014 Farm Bill, the program provides voluntary financial assistance to participating dairy operations when the margin—the difference between the price of milk and feed costs—falls below the coverage level selected by the farmer.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), Chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry, and Ranking Member Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-01), have introduced H. Con. Res. 30, a resolution supporting the designation of 2015 as the International Year of Soils and supporting locally led soil conservation.
