WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) has been named Vice Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee for the 115th Congress.
House Agriculture Committee Chairman K. Michael Conaway (R-TX) made the announcement this morning as he welcomed six new Members of Congress to serve on the Agriculture Committee.
Chairman Conaway said that Rep. Thompson will be an experienced Vice Chairman and noted that he most recently oversaw the Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry in the 114th Congress.

Oil City, PA –U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today announced $586,075 in financial assistance to more than 360 Pennsylvania dairy producers enrolled in the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Margin Protection Program for 2016. The payments, which are for the period of May and June, will be the largest since the program began in 2014, totaling nearly $11.2 million nationwide.

Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that starting July 1, 2015, dairy farmers can enroll in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Margin Protection Program for coverage in 2016. Established by the 2014 Farm Bill, the program provides voluntary financial assistance to participating dairy operations when the margin—the difference between the price of milk and feed costs—falls below the coverage level selected by the farmer.
