Washington, D.C. –Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that starting July 1, 2015, dairy farmers can enroll in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Margin Protection Program for coverage in 2016. Established by the 2014 Farm Bill, the program provides voluntary financial assistance to participating dairy operations when the margin—the difference between the price of milk and feed costs—falls below the coverage level selected by the farmer.
Washington, D.C. – Today, the House of Representatives approved H.R. 1190, the bipartisan Protecting Seniors’ Access to Medicare Act. This legislation would repeal the sections of the Affordable Care Act that establish the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB), a group of fifteen unelected members tasked with instituting cost constraints on Medicare.

Despite misinformation that has circulated, this bill is not a free-trade agreement, nor does it abdicate any powers to the executive. Rather, Trade Promotion Authority is a prescription from the legislature on how to appropriately conduct negotiations over pending trade agreements.
