Washington, D.C. - U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced he requested the $500,000 for the Clarion Northwest Central Regional Interoperability Strategic Telecommunications Plan that has been included in a House funding bill. The Commerce, Justice, Science Appropriations measure for fiscal year 2010, which passed the House of Representatives last night, included the project.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today received a copy of a letter from Agriculture Secretary Thomas Vilsack, declaring that the counties of Warren and McKean fall under a disaster designation due to agricultural losses from excessive snow last winter.

Washington, D.C.—In a hearing today before the House Agriculture Committee, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack answered the question of what the cost of the Cap and Trade proposal would be in rural America by saying that the Department of Agriculture had not finished its cost analysis but that innovation and green collar jobs would help to balance costs.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today joined other members of the GOP American Energy Solutions Working Group to introduce their alternative to the proposed Cap and Trade legislation.

“We have been criticizing strongly the `Cap and Tax’ program being considered. The next step is to propose a viable alternative—and today we do just that,” said Thompson.

Washington, DC—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today pushed the Forest Service to acknowledge that the economic downturn around the Allegheny National Forest was due to actions of the Forest Service in regard to oil and gas development and timbering.

Washington, DC—U. S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $627,000 to the Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority to extend a taxiway.

The funds will be used to complete a 700-foot section of taxiway bravo to connect with runway 27. It will include the placement of base and sub-base materials, drainage, lighting and marking.

“This grant will enable the final phase of this project,” said Thompson. “It is a welcome improvement that will facilitate the ground movements of aircraft.”
