Washington, DC—U. S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the Federal Aviation Administration has awarded $627,000 to the Williamsport Municipal Airport Authority to extend a taxiway.

The funds will be used to complete a 700-foot section of taxiway bravo to connect with runway 27. It will include the placement of base and sub-base materials, drainage, lighting and marking.

“This grant will enable the final phase of this project,” said Thompson. “It is a welcome improvement that will facilitate the ground movements of aircraft.”

Washington, DC—A measure to encourage job creation in this nation passed the House of Representatives today.

Included in that bill, (H.R. 2352), The Job Creation through Entrepreneurship Act of 2009, was a bill by U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, which will assist small business owners or aspiring entrepreneurs to get training and education through the use of technology.

Washington, DC—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson today announced he is accepting academy nomination applications to the U.S. Military Academies for 2010.

“Each year I have the privilege of nominating a limited number of people to four of the five service academies. Those selected must fulfill a five-year obligation to serve in the military once they graduate from one of the academies,” explained Thompson.

Washington, DC—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today used a parliamentary procedure on the floor of the House of Representatives to add a deficit trigger into a bill called The 21st Century Green High-Performing Public School Facilities Act (H.R. 2187). The vote split on party lines and the measure failed 182 to 247.
