Titusville, PA –Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) today announced plans to introduce the “Cooperative Management of Mineral Rights Act.” The legislation pertains to the Allegheny National Forest (ANF) and private ownership of mineral rights in national forests across the nation. It would repeal existing statute which allows the U.S. Forest Service to create rules relating to the leasing and permitting of privately-held mineral rights in the ANF.

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), a member of the House Agriculture Committee, will again host a public meeting during Penn State University’s Ag Progress Days in Pennsylvania Furnace. Also appearing and participating in the discussion will be Pennsylvania Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding. Among the topics expected to be discussed include the general state of agriculture across Pennsylvania, as well as the 2014 Farm Bill, which contains important provisions with regard to research, dairy, conservation, forestry and nutrition.

Bellefonte, PA –Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) today announced Oct. 1, 2015, as the submission deadline for high school seniors to apply for nomination for acceptance into the U.S. Service Academies for 2016.

“I encourage interested students to contact the Academy in which they are seeking acceptance in order to open a pre-candidate application file,” Thompson said. “After that, they should contact my office to begin the process of applying for nomination.”

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced the award of $70,000 in grant funding to the North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission, from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The funding will be used by North Central to develop and implement strategies for job creation and investment.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced the United States Department of Education has awarded $284,753 to Lock Haven University through a grant process for the Student Support Services (SSS) Program for Fiscal Year 2015. The award, beginning Sept. 1, is anticipated to continue for five years, totaling more than $1.4 million.
