Thompson Announces Appointment of Karlee Xander to the U.S. Air Force Academy

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) announced that Ms. Karlee Xander of Corry, Erie County, has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Karlee is the daughter of David Proper and Melissa Lyon. She is also the step-daughter of Michelle Proper and David Lyon.

“Karlee Xander has distinguished herself in the classroom, earning the top rank in her class at Corry Area High School,” Thompson said. “I have no doubt that she will continue to demonstrate hard work and determination as she works toward the goal of serving in the United States Air Force.”

In addition to earning a 4.0 GPA at Corry Area High School, Xander is active with the National Honor Society and student council. She also is the captain of the school’s track and cheerleading teams. Karlee also serves as a special needs classroom student assistant and volunteers at the local YMCA.

Ms. Xander’s grandparents are Sally Koontz and John Xander, both of Corry.
