Washington, DC –U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5), a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, today voted in favor of H.R. 6094, the Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools and Nonprofits Act, which passed the House by a margin of 246 to 177. The bill would delay the Department of Labor’s final overtime rule for six months. This regulation, which expands overtime pay eligibility requirements for employees making $23,660 to $47,476 annually, is scheduled to go into effect on Dec. 1, 2016.

Washington, DC – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) tonight voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2017 Continuing Resolution, Zika Response, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Funding Legislation. The bill includes a short-term appropriations measure, known as a Continuing Resolution (CR), in addition to funding to fight the Zika virus, help address the nation’s prescription opioid and heroin epidemic, and resources to assist America’s service members and veterans. The bill ensures the government will continue to fully operate through Dec. 9, 2016.

Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) today voted to override President Barack Obama’s veto of The Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (S.2040). The House vote of 348 to 77 follows Senate passage of 97 to 1.

Washington, DC – The U.S. House today, by a margin of 383 to 22, approved the Special Needs Trust Fairness and Medicaid Improvement Act, H.R. 670, which was authored by U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5). The legislation removes arbitrary legal barriers that prevent people with disabilities from independently creating Special Needs Trusts, which are used to supplement daily living expenses and care that would not otherwise be covered by Medicaid and Social Security.

Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) today issued the following statement, upon learning that the DuBois Business College (DBC) will soon close its doors after 131 years of serving students and employers. In addition to the DBC main campus in DuBois, the school operates branch campuses in Huntingdon, Oil City and Philipsburg.

Bellefonte, PA –U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5), in a letter sent Friday, Aug. 26, expressed concern about the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) “Zero Discharge” rule, which is intended to prevent wastewater from unconventional oil and gas wells from being treated at publically-owned treatment facilities. In the letter to EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, Thompson joined with U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly (PA-3) to express concerns that the regulations, as written, would also affect the treatment of wastewater from traditional conventional oil and gas wells.
