Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $199,500 grant to the Clearfield-Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority.
“The grant will provide funds for the rehabilitation of the apron, runway and taxiway at the DuBois Regional Airport,” said Thompson. “This safety initiative will take care of crack sealing and include remarking the pavements.”
The grant comes from the U.S. DOT’s Federal Aviation Administration.
Washington, D.C.—DuBois Business College this year celebrates 125 years of education for the people of the area.
In recognition of their longevity, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today read a statement of congratulations on the floor of the House of Representatives.

Washington, D.C.—John Dippold, President of Innovative Sintered Metals in St. Marys today told the Committee on Small Business of the U. S. House of Representatives that,“in crisis, there is opportunity.”
Dippold testified at the invitation of U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, during a hearing entitled, “Heroes of Small Business.” Dippold asked, “Why didn’t we collapse when the auto industry tanked? The answer has a lot to do with our size, the way we positioned ourselves in the marketplace, and our steady growth.”
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced his support for an effort to reach out to the American people to engage them in a new agenda for the nation called “America Speaking Out”.
“The agenda in Washington has convinced many that the Congress just is not listening,” said Thompson. “House Republicans plan to offer a new policy agenda, but we want to include the American people in building that agenda. Wouldn’t that be surprising to find the Congress actually taking the time to listen to the people?”
Washington, D.C.—The U.S. Department of Education has proposed a rule that has the potential to close some private secondary institutions and keep fewer students from accessing federal lending for career and technical education.
“I joined nine of my colleagues in the Pennsylvania delegation in a letter to U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan to protest what is called the gainful employment regulation that is currently under consideration,” said U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard.
Washington, D.C.—Dr. Thomas Butler, superintendent of Ridgway Area School District in Elk County, today testified before a U.S. House hearing on education stating that, “We need to transform our schools to meet the needs of the 21st century.” Dr. Butler said he faces three challenges to that transformation.
Washington, D.C.—Britaney Dunkle, a senior at Franklin High School, has won the Congressional Art Competition for the 5th District sponsored by U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard. Her pencil drawing will hang on the walls of the tunnel between the Cannon House Office Building and the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C.
“It is amazing to me that one so young can show such talent and skill,” said Thompson. “She has shown her brothers and sister in a moment of concern—and you feel that as you look at the piece.”
Washington, D.C.—The Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Department of Homeland Security has awarded $126,825 in Assistance to Firefighter Grants to the Bradford City Fire Department, according to U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard.
“The primary goal of these grants is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments,” said Thompson. “They help departments like Bradford’s to obtain critically needed equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles and other resources needed to protect the public and the firefighters.”
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, announced today that Matthew T. Galsick, 17, of Wilcox has accepted a fully qualified appointment for admission to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO. Matthew is the son of Judy and Thomas Galsick and currently is a senior at Johnsonburg Area High School.
