Washington, D.C. – Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson issued the following statement on Monday night after the House overwhelmingly defeated a request from President Obama to raise the nation’s debt ceiling without any spending cuts or budget reforms. Thompson voted to oppose the measure, H.R. 1954, which failed to pass the House by a vote of 318 - 97.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson’s amendment today passed the full U.S. House of Representatives by voice vote as part of H.R. 1540, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2012. The amendment is nearly identical to H.R. 1832, the Servicemembers’ Telemedicine and E-Health Portability (STEP) Act, which Thompson introduced earlier this month. The House passed H.R. 1540 by a vote of 322-96.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) under the Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded $182,000, through two grants, to the Bradford Regional Airport (BFD) in McKean, PA. The FAA grants will help BFD pay for runway safety enhancements and purchase aircraft rescue and fire fighting protective equipment.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson Thursday voted in support of H.R. 1231, the Reversing President Obama’s Offshore Moratorium Act, which passed the House by a vote of 243-179. H.R. 1231 is the third in a trio of bipartisan bills recently passed by the House aimed to increase domestic energy production. This is the second consecutive week that the House has focused its legislative efforts on energy policy and rising gas prices.

The STEP Act will expand the current Department of Defense (DOD) state licensure exemption to allow credentialed health care professionals to work across state borders without having to obtain a new state license.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson has announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has awarded $72,000 to Community Ambulance Service (CAS) in Franklin, Venango County. Thompson was in Franklin today to discuss current emergency operations and how the CAS Franklin will utilize the funding, which had been awarded through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program (AFG).

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today voted to support H.R. 1230, the Restarting American Offshore Leasing Now Act. H.R. 1230, cosponsored by Thompson, requires the Secretary of the Interior to conduct oil and natural gas lease sales in the Gulf of Mexico and offshore Virginia that have been delayed or cancelled by the Obama Administration. The measure passed the House today with a bipartisan majority of votes, 266-149. Thompson issued the following statement after final passage:
