Student Rally For Education Rights
Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Rep. Glenn 'GT' Thompson will join three of his House colleagues at a rally for education rights on the U.S. Capitol Grounds: Reps. Rob Andrews (D-NJ); Alcee Hastings (D-FL); and Brett Guthrie (R-KY).
More than one thousand students from private sector colleges and universities will be on Capitol Hill to demand that Washington allow them to make their own educational choices. They oppose policies that limit choice and diminish the value of their post-secondary educations. Students will be rallying to set the record straight about the value of private-sector education. The students and Members oppose the U.S. Department of Education's proposed regulations on "Gainful Employment," which have the potential to close secondary institutions and keep students from accessing federal lending for education.
