Washington, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives unanimously passed H.R. 433, to designate the Post Office in Knox, Clarion County as the Specialist Ross A. McGinnis Memorial Post Office. McGinnis was killed in the line of duty on Dec. 4,
2006, while serving with the Army in Iraq. In 2008, he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President George W. Bush.
Washington, DC – U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) this evening voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDDA) for Fiscal Year 2017 (H.R. 4909), which passed the House by a vote of 277 to 147.

Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, chairman of the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry, held a hearing focused on the effect of environmental regulations and voluntary conservation programs on rural farms across the nation. This is the first hearing in the Focus on the Farm Economy series, where the House Agriculture Committee’s six subcommittees will examine the growing influence of the federal government on rural farms.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) announced the 5th District winners of the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. The annual competition allows young artists to submit their work before an independent panel. The first place winner has the opportunity to have his or her artwork on display in the U.S. Capitol for one year. The second place artist will have their work displayed in Thompson’s Washington, D.C. office, while the artwork which placed third will be displayed at one of his district offices.

“Darren has proven that he knows the value of hard work, ranking at the top of his class, volunteering in his community and lettering in several varsity sports,” Thompson said. “I know that same work ethic will be essential to his future success in the U.S. Naval Academy.”
