Bellefonte, PA –U.S. Reps. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5), Mike Kelly (PA-3) and Keith Rothfus (PA-12) today wrote to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Gina McCarthy, regarding the “Zero Discharge” rule. This regulation, which went into effect in August, creates new federal standards for the discharge of wastewater derived from “unconventional oil and gas” at publically-owned treatment works (POTWs).
Bellefonte, PA – On Monday, Oct. 24, at 6 p.m., the Post Office in Knox, Clarion County, will be formally designated as the Specialist Ross A. McGinnis Memorial Post Office, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) said today. Thompson will be joined at the event by members of the McGinnis family, along with representatives from American Legion Post 720 and the Servicemen’s Club of Knox.

Washington, DC –U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5), a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, today voted in favor of H.R. 6094, the Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools and Nonprofits Act, which passed the House by a margin of 246 to 177. The bill would delay the Department of Labor’s final overtime rule for six months. This regulation, which expands overtime pay eligibility requirements for employees making $23,660 to $47,476 annually, is scheduled to go into effect on Dec. 1, 2016.
Washington, DC – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) tonight voted in favor of the Fiscal Year 2017 Continuing Resolution, Zika Response, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Funding Legislation. The bill includes a short-term appropriations measure, known as a Continuing Resolution (CR), in addition to funding to fight the Zika virus, help address the nation’s prescription opioid and heroin epidemic, and resources to assist America’s service members and veterans. The bill ensures the government will continue to fully operate through Dec. 9, 2016.

Washington, DC – The U.S. House today, by a margin of 383 to 22, approved the Special Needs Trust Fairness and Medicaid Improvement Act, H.R. 670, which was authored by U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5). The legislation removes arbitrary legal barriers that prevent people with disabilities from independently creating Special Needs Trusts, which are used to supplement daily living expenses and care that would not otherwise be covered by Medicaid and Social Security.
