Washington, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) today announced that the Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) application period will be extended due to Hurricane Irene response and recovery, according to U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard. The NEW deadline for AFG applications is September 16, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. EST, one week later than the initial date.

Washington, D.C.—Representative Glenn `GT' Thompson, R-Howard, today announced October 3, 2011, as the deadline for high school seniors to apply for nomination through the Bellefonte District Office for acceptance into one of the four military academies for the year 2012.

"For Seniors interested in applying to the academies, it is time to circle that date on your calendar and start putting together the required materials," Thompson explained.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today announced that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has awarded $700,000 through two grants, to the University Park Airport in State College. The FAA grants will assist the University Park Airport to enhance runway safety improvements and terminal operations upgrades.

Washington, D.C. – The application period for the Fiscal Year 2011 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG) Program will begin next week, running from August 15, 2011 at 8:00am to September 09, 2011 at 5:00pm, according to Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard.

“These are competitive grants that address public safety and protect our emergency responders from fire-related hazards,” said Thompson, a long-time volunteer firefighter and emergency medical technician.

Washington, D.C. – Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson tonight voted to support S.365, the Budget Control Act Agreement. The measure, which now heads for consideration in the Senate, passed the House by a vote of 269-161.
“We’ve led the fight for controlling spending and saving our children and grandchildren from national bankruptcy, and this bill begins the path to fiscal solvency,” said Thompson.

Washington, D.C. – Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson tonight voted to support S. 627, the Budget Control Act. The measure passed the U.S. House of Representatives by a vote of 218-210.

“Today the House took action on a solution to end this debt limit crisis.” said Thompson. “By reducing spending more than we increase the debt limit, the House bill restores fiscal discipline in Washington while protecting the integrity of the United States.”
