Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today took part in a forum that examined the “Culture of Favoritism” the Obama administration has shown toward labor unions.

Thompson is a member of the Education and Labor Committee. The Committee Republicans put together the forum to examine actions taken and promises made by the Administration to reward special interests at the expense of American workers and our struggling economy.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, announced he will be accepting appropriations requests for fiscal year 2011 federal funding for projects. The application can be completed on Thompson’s website, www.thompson.house.gov. The request form is located in a section entitled “Appropriation & Auth. Requests,” in the upper right corner of the homepage.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today took his resolution honoring the Penn State women’s volleyball team on winning the 2009 NCAA Division I national championship, to the floor of the House of Representatives where it passed by unanimous consent.

Thompson told the House: “Exactly one month ago today the Pennsylvania State University Women’s volleyball team staged a stunning come-from-behind victory against the University of Texas lady Longhorns and took home their third consecutive NCAA national championship.”

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood today told four members of the Pennsylvania congressional delegation that the Transportation Department had been reviewing PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s application for federal tolling authority of Interstate 80 and will “be making a decision very soon.”

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today has learned that Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack has appointed Thompson's nominee, Erick Coolidge of Wellsboro, to the Dairy Advisory Committee created this year within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, USDA.

Thompson was joined by five other Pennsylvania Congressmen in making the nomination: Jim Gerlach, R-Chester Springs, Joe Pitts, R-Kennett Square, Bill Shuster, R-Hollidaysburg,Todd Platts, R-York County, and Charles Dent, R-Allentown.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today joined 13 members of the Pennsylvania General Assembly for a briefing with the Federal Highway Administration, FHWA, to let them know of their strong opposition to the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission’s recent application to toll I-80.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today issued the following statement after Judge Sean McLaughlin of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania issued an injunction lifting the ban on drilling permits in the Allegheny National Forest:

“I’ve been confident all along in the State’s ability to take care of the environment in the Allegheny National Forest—confidence in the local industry and the citizens of the four-county area, who have been exceptional stewards of the environment for decades.

Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today reiterated his opposition to tolling Interstate 80 in a letter to Ray LaHood, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation. He strongly protested Pennsylvania’s application to implement tolls on Interstate 80, and urged the Secretary to reject the application.
