Thompson Announces Appointment of Sterling Pickett to the U.S. Air Force Academy

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that Sterling Pickett of Loganton, Clinton County, has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Sterling is the son of Ed and Cathy Pickett.

“This is another step in Sterling’s lifelong dream to serve in our nation’s armed forces,” Thompson said. “Sterling Pickett was born in South Korea and adopted by parents in Pennsylvania. He is an athlete, exemplary student, and Eagle Scout. I admire his dedication to serve his community and country and wish him the best in this appointment.”

Pickett, 17, attends Central Mountain High School and ranks 11th in his class with a 4.0 GPA. He is a member of the National Honor Society and has earned the rank of Eagle Scout, the culmination of years of work with the Boy Scouts of America.

At Central Mountain High School, Sterling has lettered in Cross Country and Track and Field. He is also active with the Oval United Methodist Church in Jersey Shore.

Mr. Pickett’s paternal grandparents are Ed and the late Brenda Pickett of Loganton. His maternal grandparents are David and Janey Schenck of White Deer, Union County.
