While the area's Republican legislators applauded President Donald Trump's use of force in the Middle East, another Senator questions the imminent threat posed by the slain Iranian general.

"I don't think we escalated anything," said Rep. Fred Keller, R-Kreamer. "We responded to attacks on Americans and American interests."

The president's response was "measured," as he took advice from military and his administration, said Keller.

The United States killed Iran's top general and the architect of Tehran's proxy wars in the Middle East in an airstrike at Baghdad's international airport early on Friday, an attack that threatens to dramatically ratchet up tensions in the region.

The targeted killing of Gen. Qassem Soleimani, the head of Iran's elite Quds Force, could draw forceful Iranian retaliation against American interests in the region and spiral into a far larger conflict between the U.S. and Iran, endangering U.S. troops in Iraq, Syria and beyond.

The U.S. House of Representatives was in session for nearly 12 hours on Wednesday.

The Congressman who represents Warren County, Republican Glenn Thompson, was afforded the opportunity to speak for 30 seconds amid the hours of debate that resulted in the House of Representatives approving two articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, just the third time in the nation's history that the House has taken such action.

Thompson spoke briefly just over nine hours after the House gaveled in for the day.

A Cambria County group is getting a nearly $1.4 million grant.

U.S. Representatives Glenn Thompson and John Joyce made the announcement today.

The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority is getting the grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission.

The nearly $1.4-million will be used for the Johnstown Urban Industrial Park Connector Street Project.

Federal Lawmakers from Pennsylvania weighed in with their response to last night's vote to impeach President Trump.

"I think what's happening is they're trying to undo the election, undo the votes that 63 million Americans cast for Donald J. Trump in the last election," said Congressman Glenn Thompson, (R), PA-15.

"Impeachment is a remedy that our founders provided to us in these circumstances where we believe that an executive has abused power. There's only one remedy and that's impeachment," said Senator Bob Casey, (D), Pennsylvania.

Thompson, both Republicans, once again offered their unequivocal support for President Donald Trump – in regards to the investigation into his actions concerning Ukraine and the 2020 election – when formal articles of impeachment against him were unveiled on Tuesday.

The resolution, supported by Democrats in the House of Representatives, accused Trump of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.
