Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today was notified by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that Secretary Thomas J. Vilsack has agreed that there were sufficient production losses in Clarion, Venango, and Warren Counties to warrant a disaster designation. The designation was based on losses that occurred due to a late season frost in the second week of May, 2010.
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the U. S. Department of Labor has awarded $407,137 in YouthBuild funds to the Lycoming-Clinton Counties Commission for Community Action (STEP), Inc.
“Across the country the Labor Department has issued almost $67 million in these grants, which assist out-of-school youth to get their diplomas or GEDs (General Education Diploma) while providing job training in the construction industry,” said Thompson. “This program can help youth get into a job that can support them for a lifetime.”
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $317,654 to the Area Transportation Authority of North Central Pennsylvania to purchase a new full-size bus for Monroe Township/Clarion County.
“The Federal Transit Administration awarded the funds from its Bus and Bus Facilities account, and it will allow for the purchase of the bus as well as the purchase of needed spare parts and related equipment,” said Thompson.
Hidden deep in the new healthcare law is authority for the Internal Revenue Service to require, for the first time, that businesses report to the IRS every expense they incur over $600.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) postponed processing claims from doctors in order to give the Democrat Majority in the Senate an opportunity to pass legislation, preventing the 21 percent reduction in Medicare claims reimbursements. However, these claims as of June 18th will now be subject to the reduction because the Senate did not act.

“This is a unique program that seeks to increase student access to quality mental health care by developing programs to link local school systems with the local mental health system,” said Thompson.

Today, his is the only case of a missing U.S. citizen from the Pinochet-era for which there has never been a full accounting of the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $199,500 grant to the Clearfield-Jefferson County Regional Airport Authority.
“The grant will provide funds for the rehabilitation of the apron, runway and taxiway at the DuBois Regional Airport,” said Thompson. “This safety initiative will take care of crack sealing and include remarking the pavements.”
The grant comes from the U.S. DOT’s Federal Aviation Administration.
Washington, D.C.—DuBois Business College this year celebrates 125 years of education for the people of the area.
In recognition of their longevity, U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today read a statement of congratulations on the floor of the House of Representatives.
