Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) announced that Ms. Karlee Xander of Corry, Erie County, has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Karlee is the daughter of David Proper and Melissa Lyon. She is also the step-daughter of Michelle Proper and David Lyon.

Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) announced that Lachlan Campbell, a student at State College High School, is Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District’s winner for the 2015 Congressional App Challenge. Campbell’s software application, or “app,” is entitled “Noodles,” and is designed to store the recipes of users and to help them discover new dishes to create. The app has several hundred users in more than 40 countries.

Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson (PA-05) announced the details for the 2016 Congressional Art Competition. As in years past, the winning piece of artwork from each congressional district across the country will be displayed in a special exhibit in the U.S. Capitol.

Washington, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that Sterling Pickett of Loganton, Clinton County, has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Sterling is the son of Ed and Cathy Pickett.

Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that Emily Walbridge of Mill Hall, Clinton County, has accepted a fully qualified appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy. Emily is the daughter of James and Ellen Walbridge.

“Emily will join her sister, Katelyn, who is already a student at the Academy,” said Thompson. “This appointment gives her the chance to follow in the footsteps of her grandfather and great-grandfather in serving in our nation’s armed forces.”

Washington, DC – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), a senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, participated in an oversight hearing to consider the impacts of the Environmental Protection Agency’s actions on the rural economy. The hearing received testimony from Gina McCarthy, Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in Washington, D.C.

Washington, DC – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) today commented on a unanimous affirmative vote by the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) on petitions filed to both the U.S. Department of Commerce and ITC by the United Steelworkers and four paper manufacturers, including the Domtar Corporation. Domtar is the owner of a paper mill in Johnsonburg, Elk County, and a paper sheeting/converting operation in Clearfield County. It employs 485 people in Pennsylvania’s 5th Congressional District.

Washington, DC – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) today announced that the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has changed its policy on telemedicine, expanding access so that service men and women can receive care in their own homes, rather than exclusively at a military treatment facility. The announcement represents further implementation of the Servicemembers Telemedicine and E-Health Portability, or STEP, Act, which was authored by Thompson and signed into law in 2011.
