Mr. Speaker, before being appointed to office, President Obama’s Energy Secretary Steven Chu stated: “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” this at a time when gasoline prices in Europe were $ 8-10 dollars per gallon.
On Thursday, the House Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy, and Forestry held a public hearing, “To review the implementation of phase II of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL (Total Maximum Daily Load) Watershed Implementation Plans and their impact on rural communities.” The hearing was the Subcommittee’s second oversight hearing under my leadership to examine the Chesapeake Bay TMDL, controversial federal regulations through the Environmental Protection Agency to limit nutrient and sediment runoff in the Bay Watershed.
This week, I delivered three separate floor speeches, outlining 17 House-passed jobs bills that are currently awaiting action in the Senate. The 3rd speech was delivered today, following passage of H.R.
Earlier today from the House floor, I congratulated Penn State Professor Jack Langelaan, contributing departments and all those involved in the first place win in NASA’s Comparative Aircraft Flight Efficiency Green Flight Challenge, which took place in Charles Santa Rosa, CA, on September 25. The aviation team was lead by Dr. Langelaan and supported by Penn State engineers as well as local aviation businesses and facilities. Truly a team effort!
