Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today voted in support of H. Res. 72, a resolution directing House committees to inventory and review existing, pending, and proposed regulations and orders from agencies of the Federal Government, with respect to their effect on jobs and economic growth. The resolution passed the full House of Representatives by a vote of 391-28. Thompson issued the following statement upon final passage:
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today learned from House Agriculture Committee Chairman-Elect Frank Lucas that he will lead the Agriculture Subcommittee on Conservation, Energy & Forestry for the upcoming 112th Congress, beginning January 5th, 2011.
Last week, Thompson was made aware, that in total he will have three committee assignments for the 112th Congress. He had retained seats on the House Agriculture and the House Education & Labor Committees, in addition to a new appointment on the House Natural Resources Committee.
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson today learned he has been reappointed to the House Agriculture Committee and the Education and Labor Committee. In addition, he will serve on the Natural Resources Committee, which has jurisdiction over natural resource development, such as the Marcellus Shale natural gas play.
Washington, D.C.—The House Agriculture Committee today passed H.R 5509, The Chesapeake Bay Restoration and Improvement Act. U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, is a cosponsor of the legislation and voted in favor of it. The bill essentially codifies the existing agreements among the states of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C., to clean up the Bay.
Washington, D.C.—U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, today issued the following statement after Judge Sean McLaughlin of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania issued an injunction lifting the ban on drilling permits in the Allegheny National Forest:
“I’ve been confident all along in the State’s ability to take care of the environment in the Allegheny National Forest—confidence in the local industry and the citizens of the four-county area, who have been exceptional stewards of the environment for decades.

Washington, D.C.—“I have deep concerns that the actions taken by the Forest Service in response to litigation filed by Allegheny Defense Project (ADP), the Sierra Club, and the Forest Service Employees for Environmental Ethics (FSEEE) will have far reaching and intentional repercussions. This is a fundamental issue of private property rights and domestic energy production,” wrote U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard.
