Three politicians and a government official were recognized by the American Bakers Association as winners of the 2020 Bakers' Dozen Award. WASHINGTON, DC — Today, U.S. Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson announced Parish Braden as Republican Staff Director of the House Agriculture Committee in the 117th Congress. Braden currently serves as Republican Staff Director of the House Committee on Natural Resources.
Rural broadband development and carbon reduction are expected to be among U.S. Rep. Glenn "G.T." Thompson's main priorities when he becomes the House Committee on Agriculture's Republican leader during the upcoming 117th Congress.
Thompson, who represents the 15th Congressional District that includes part of Cambria County, was recently selected as the minority party's ranking member.
The Georgia Democrat and Pennsylvania Republican poised to take the reins of the House Agriculture Committee next year have shared priorities, including climate policy, but different timelines and approaches.
Pennsylvania Congressman Glenn "GT" Thompson was elected as the top Republican in the House Agriculture Committee.
Thompson was elected ranking member Dec. 2. The full House GOP Conference ratified the decision Dec. 3. He is succeeding the retiring Rep. Mike Conway (R-Texas).
"The challenges ahead of us are considerable, but we will continue to put farm families first and ensure our country has the most safe and affordable food supply chain on the planet," said Thompson, who was elected in 2008.
Earlier this week, Rep. Glenn "GT" Thompson was elected by the Republican Steering Committee to serve as Republican leader of the House Agriculture Committee, replacing Rep. Mike Conaway of Texas, whom he worked under as vice ranking member in the current Congress.
A Pennsylvania Republican will lead his GOP colleagues in the House Agriculture Committee for the 117th Congress.
On Wednesday, Rep. G.T. Thompson (R-Centre) was elected by the Republican Steering Committee to serve as the GOP leader of the House Agriculture Committee for the upcoming Congress.
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) has been named the top Republican on the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, his office announced in a statement.
Thompson, 61, was elected by his peers to the position Wednesday night. He represents the commonwealth's 15th Congressional District, which covers a large portion of rural Pennsylvania, stretching from Warren County to Centre County.
