U.S. Department of Transportation Announces Grant for Safety Renovations at DuBois Regional Airport

August 21, 2014

Bellefonte, Pa. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-5) today announced the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has awarded a $273, 272.00 grant to the DuBois Regional Airport Authority.

“This grant will support essential operational upgrades at DuBois Regional Airport that will benefit the safety of both the traveling public and local airport operators,” stated Rep. Thompson.

“The airport will now be able to move forward on plans for reconstruction of an existing taxiway that is more than 30 years old and in need of repair,” stated Robert Shaffer, DuBois Regional Airport Manager. “In the interest of safety, we also plan to widen the turn at this juncture so that larger aircraft can access the existing hanger.”

The grant comes from the U.S. DOT’s Federal Aviation Administration. This project will rehabilitate DuBois Regional Airport’s T-hangar taxiway that has reached the end of its useful life.
