Thompson Votes Against Debt Limit Extension

WASHINGTON — Following the passage of the extension of the public debt limit, U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson released the following statement:

"Democrats have created an economic and political crisis by playing games with the debt ceiling. They control the House, Senate and White House and have known for years that this moment was coming, yet took no steps to pass a budget or have bipartisan discussions about how to tackle the country's financial future. This is a political stunt, the bill has no chance of being passed in the Senate, and it amounts to nothing more than a blank check for out of control spending, which I cannot and will not support."
