Thompson Statement on Passage of Fiscal Year 2023 NDAA

December 8, 2022

Congressman Thompson supports service members' pay increase, military readiness, and repealing the COVID-19 vaccine mandate

WASHINGTON, D.C. –Today, U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year (FY) 2023. Congressman Thompson released the following statement:

"The NDAA is one of the most important bills we pass as Members of Congress. This bill provides funding for our national defense, which keeps Americans safe at home and abroad. These funds will be used to provide our service members with a much-deserved pay increase and ensure military readiness against foreign adversaries like Russia and China. It also repeals the COVID-19 vaccine mandate further helping our military's recruitment and retainment.

"I am pleased that two of my amendments were included, which will require the Department of Defense to report on the impacts of inflation on military families and the effects of decreased recruitment and retention of those actively serving in our Armed Forces. This information will help address military readiness and better serve our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines and their families."
