Thompson On PennDOT Bridge Tolling Proposal: "The People Have Been Taxed Enough"
KNOX, PA — Following the announcement of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) bridge tolling proposal, Representative Glenn 'GT' Thompson issued the following statement:
"News of PennDOT’s bridge tolling proposal is alarming. A decade ago, the Commonwealth’s scheme to toll Interstate 80 was rejected twice by the federal government because it intended to use toll revenues to bail out the failed Turnpike Commission and mass transit. Pennsylvania has the second highest gas tax in the country. Motorists, businesses, and trucking already pay their fair share. Plain and simple: tolls are taxes and the people have been taxed enough.”
