WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an additional COVID-19 relief package which includes $13 billion in support for the agriculture industry. The legislation provides continued direct relief for producers, additional emergency nutrition assistance, support for food purchases, and funding for rural broadband.
Following the vote, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson issued the following statement:
"Rural America and our agriculture industry have waited far too long for the much needed support included in tonight's legislation. However, I'm pleased to see many agriculture wins were delivered in this Coronavirus relief package," said Rep. Thompson. "Our farmers and ranchers will finally receive additional assistance, along with vital support for rural broadband development, a critical resource not only in the wake of the pandemic, but essential for a robust rural economy."
