October 6, 2026

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representatives Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-Pa.) and Bill Keating (D-Mass.), co-chairs of the bipartisan German-American Caucus, introduced a resolution reaffirming German-American Friendship and supporting continued cooperation between the United States and Germany.

More than 36 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, this resolution reaffirms the importance of the alliance between the United States and Germany and underscores our shared commitment to democracy. It also supports the “Wunderbar Together” initiative, which aims to celebrate German-American art, culture, science, friendship, and more.

“Pennsylvania has one of the largest populations of Americans with German heritage, and this resolution is an opportunity to acknowledge the strong alliance between the United States and Germany. I look forward to continuing to foster this partnership for years to come, and celebrating our two countries shared interests,” Rep. Thompson said.

“Germany and the United States share a relationship based on values, traditions, and friendship between peoples. This resolution recognizes the profound contributions of Germans to the United States and Congress’ unwavering support for the US-German relationship. As Co-Chair of the Congressional German-American Caucus, I look forward to strengthening our relationship in the years to come," Rep. Keating said.

“The transatlantic partnership between Germany and the United States remains a cornerstone of our economic ties and is grounded in shared values and interests. At a time of significant global economic and geopolitical challenges, strong transatlantic cooperation is more important than ever. The Representative of German Industry and Trade (RGIT) is pleased to reaffirm its support for Representative Thompson’s resolution and for continued cooperation between Germany and the United States.”– Representative of German Industry and Trade
