Thompson Issues Statement on USDA SNAP Rule

Final Rule Empowers Work-Capable Adults

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson, Senior Member of the House Agriculture Committee and former Chairman of the Nutrition Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) final rule, regarding requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents:

"Today's final SNAP ruling is projected to assist 88% percent of able-bodied individuals without dependents entry into the workforce," said Rep. Thompson. "There is dignity and pride that comes with work. Now more than ever, there are training opportunities and open positions throughout the country. Working adults make an invaluable impact on our communities and economy, and today's ruling empowers these individuals to take control of their futures."
