Attends Rally at Courthouse in Franklin

Franklin, Pa. — U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson issued the following statement today after attending a rally at the Courthouse in Franklin in response to the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services’ decision to close the Polk State Center, an immediate care facility for people with intellectual disabilities, located in Venango County:

“For more than 120 years, the Polk Center has served as a safe haven and community for thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities,” said Rep. Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson. “As a former healthcare professional and licensed nursing home administrator, I can tell you that the decision to close the Center by 2022 does not take into account the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of those who utilize treatment, or the families who entrust the care of their loved ones to the service of the Center’s dedicated staff.”
