Thompson Issues Statement on Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act

Additional federal funding made available for small businesses, employees, hospitals, and COVID-19 testing

WASHINGTON, DCToday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 266, the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act by a vote of 388-5. The bill includes an additional $370 billion for the Small Business Administration's Paycheck Protection Program and Economic Injury Disaster Loans and Grants. The bill also provides $75 billion for hospitals and healthcare providers, as well as $25 billion for expanded testing. Upon conclusion of the vote, Congressman Glenn ‘GT' Thompson issued the following statement:

"The Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act will continue to support programs that will save lives and save jobs," said Rep. Thompson. "These continued investments in hospitals and small businesses are vital to sustaining our physical health and our economic health, especially by supporting employees who find themselves out of work through no fault of their own. This vote sends a clear message that we're going to make sure they can pay their bills and support their families."
