Thompson Issues Statement on House Passage of Fiscal Year 2016 Bicameral Budget Agreement

April 30, 2015

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) issued this statement following passage of the Conference Report to S. Con. Res. 11, Fiscal Year 2016 Budget:

“This bicameral budget agreement sets the parameters for federal spending by promoting fiscal responsibility, creating $5 trillion in savings over the next decade, while strengthening Medicare and Social Security for our nation’s seniors and future generations.

According to the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office, the Fiscal Year 2016 budget will provide the frame work for $400 billion in additional economic growth over the next ten years.

While this document is far from perfect, it does ensure a strong national defense and aims to foster positive economic growth throughout Pennsylvania and across the nation.”

The S. Con. Res. 11, Fiscal Year 2016 Budget Conference Agreement passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 226 to 197.
