Thompson Issues Statement on Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 6800, the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solutions Act, by a vote of 208-199. Congressman Glenn 'GT' Thompson voted in opposition to the 1,800+ page partisan bill and issued the following statement after the vote:
"On four occasions, the House has come together in a bipartisan manner to pass nearly $2.5 trillion in spending to address the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic challenges state shut downs have caused hard working American families. Unfortunately, the so-called 'HEROES Act,' is less of a relief package and more of a partisan wish list drafted by Speaker Pelosi in secret. The bill is so removed from reality that numbers of Democrats have come out in opposition. While I have voted in good-faith to support previous legislation to address the pandemic, this bill is saturated with a longstanding partisan and ideological wish list that has nothing to do with defeating COVID-19 and getting America back to work."
