Thompson Issues Statement Following Senate Passage of USA FREEDOM Act
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05), a member of the bipartisan Congressional Privacy Caucus, released the following statement applauding the Senate’s passage of the Thompson supported USA FREEDOM Act (H.R. 2048).
“I am very pleased that the Senate has acted to approve the House passed USA FREEDOM Act. This bill is the result of several years of strong bipartisan negotiations, which will restore protections to our civil liberties by ending controversial data collection programs, while also improving our foreign intelligence gathering abilities. I look forward to the president quickly signing this bill into law, so that our intelligence agencies have the tools they need to protect each and every American citizen.”
The Senate approved the USA FREEDOM Act by a vote of 67-32.
