DEA to host 17th annual #TakeBackDay Saturday across the country

BELLEFONTE, Pa. – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT' Thompson today encouraged residents of the 15th Congressional District to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription drugs on Saturday, which is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will host its 17th annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day at various locations across the nation. Individuals can look up locations in their community by using this collection site locator. Over the past three Take Back Days, more than 900,000 pounds of expired, unwanted, and unused prescription drugs were disposed of at safe locations, according to the DEA.

"As we continue to battle the opioid crisis, it is important to safely dispose of medications that are no longer needed," Rep. Thompson said. "There are numerous drug take back locations in the 15th District, and I hope residents will use this day to help protect their family and friends and raise awareness about prescription drug addiction."

Take Back Days provide Americans the opportunity to protect their communities and prevent the spread of addiction. To learn more about how to participate this Saturday and where to find a collection site nearby, visit, https://takebackday.dea.gov/.
