Thompson Celebrates 200th Anniversary of House Agriculture Committee

April 29, 2020

HOWARD, PA — Members of the House Agriculture Committee took to social media today to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the House Agriculture Committee. Congressman Glenn 'GT' Thompson, senior member of the Committee and former Vice Chairman, issued the following statement:

"For 200 years, the House Agriculture Committee has worked to identify opportunities to stimulate economies and strengthen communities in rural America. It has been the privilege of my Congressional tenure to serve on the House Agriculture Committee since my first day in Washington. To represent rural America and our nation's farm families is a responsibility that I hold dear, and I am reminded every day of the strength and resiliency of these individuals.

Though COVID-19 has presented incredible challenges for our producers, I know our farm families have the grit, tenacity, and fortitude to weather this storm. My committee colleagues and I will not stop fighting for opportunities to support these hardworking men and women so they can continue to provide the food, fiber, and energy our nation depends on."
