Thompson Announces U.S. Military Academy Appointment
Washington, D.C.—Nathan Weber, 19, of Lycoming County, will soon join the cadets at the U.S. Military Academy, according to U.S. Representative Glenn `GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, who nominated him. Nathan is the son of William and Rae Weber.
“Nathan excelled in his studies and served his community and colleagues well, and it is an honor to congratulate him on his acceptance to West Point,” said Thompson. “Weber will be a superb cadet and his talents and dedication will be a tremendous asset for our Armed Services.”
Weber received a cumulative grade point average of 3.7 and made the Honor Roll all four years at Williamsport Area High School. Nathan has served in student government on the Executive Council, was a member of the Model United Nations, and completed college-level classes at Lock Haven University as a sophomore and Pennsylvania College of Technology as a senior. Currently, Nathan is a freshman at Pennsylvania State University, Main Campus.
In addition to his studies and extracurricular work, Weber was involved in Boy Scouts of America and in 2009 achieved the highly regarded Eagle Scout Rank with Bronze and Gold Palms. Nathan has also volunteered his time as a technician for the Community Theater League and worked part-time at Wegmans Supermarket in Williamsport.
“Nathan has confronted academic challenges with rigor and worked hard to achieve his goals,” said Thompson. “Nathan has demonstrated he is fit to serve our nation’s Military Academy and his acceptance to West Point is a remarkable accomplishment.”
Nathan’s paternal grandparents are Rose and the late William Weber of Williamsport and maternal grandparents are Richard and Katherine Hunter of Mill Hall.
