Thompson Announces Curtis J. Royek of Corry Has Accepted an Appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy
Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson (PA-05) announced that Curtis J. Royek, of Corry, Pennsylvania, has accepted an appointment for admission to the U.S. Naval Academy. Curtis is the son of Walter and Lisa Royek.
“Nominating young Pennsylvanians to further their education at the finest military academies in the world is truly an honor,” said Rep. Thompson. “Curtis Royek has proven his excellence in and out of the classroom, and I know this young gentleman has a bright future ahead. I wish Mr. Royek all the best as he takes on this new and exciting challenge.”
Curtis J. Royek, 18, attends Corry Area High School and ranks 2nd in a class of 172 students. Mr. Royek is the Vice President of his senior class, a member of the National Honor Society, and serves as the Student Council Historian. Additionally, Mr. Royek is member of the varsity track, wrestling, and cross country teams at Corry High.
Outside the classroom, Curtis Royek is very active with his church’s youth group, where he serves as a volunteer and participant on mission trips.
Mr. Royek’s paternal grandparents are the late Walter and late Nancy Royek, Corry, Pa., and maternal grandparents are Paul (Navy Veteran) and Ruth Orner of Corry, Pa.
