Thompson Announces Appointment of Bret Wingard to the United States Military Academy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson today announced that Mr. Bret Wingard, of Shippenville, has accepted a fully-qualified appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, New York.

Wingard is a graduate of Keystone Area Junior-Senior High School, he is the son of Jennifer and Shawn Wingard, a veteran. He is the grandson of Les and the late Deanna Wingard and Jack and Beatrice Lauffer of Shippenville, Pa. He is the great-grandson of Maxine Lauffer of Marble, Pa.

"Bret's commitment to service is an inspiration to us all," Rep. Thompson said. "His leadership skills will serve him well in West Point. I wish him the best of luck at the Military Academy."

Wingard is a first-year student at the University of Mount Union, and a member of Army ROTC and the track and field team.
