Thompson Announces $750,000 for Freeburg Borough Sewer System Rehabilitation Project

February 27, 2026

Funding will improve the borough's sewer infrastructure

BELLEFONTE, Pa. – U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson (PA-15) today announced $750,000 in federal funding for the Freeburg Borough Sewer System Rehabilitation Project.

The funding will help to repair and improve the public portion of the sewer system. The project will line sanitary sewer mains and install t-liners, which is part of a greater effort to repair the pipe system. This new infrastructure will help prevent the sanitary system from overflowing during times of high rainfall and will keep the system financially viable for residents.

“Sewage lines are an integral part of a town’s infrastructure, and I was pleased to secure the funding necessary to make these critical changes,” Rep. Thompson said. "This investment ensures Freeburg remains a clean, safe, and sustainable place to live for generations to come.”

“The Freeburg Borough would like to thank Representative Thompson for his help on obtaining a grant for our aging sewer system; the funding will significantly improve our sewer system. His commitment to local needs is greatly appreciated,” Freeburg Mayor Richard Bickhart said. “This grant will enhance public needs of our system. We are looking forward to collaborating on future projects to benefit our residents. His efforts make a real difference in our community.”

Rep. Thompson secured the funding through Community Project Funding for Fiscal Year 2026.
