Press Release
Washington, DC– Today, Congressman Glenn 'GT' Thompson announced John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria County Airport as the recipient of a $306,000 U.S. Department of Transportation, Federal Aviation Administration Grant

“This funding will help the airport continue to develop their services, improve safety, and connect our community to the rest of the national transportation system,” said Congressman Thompson. “Reliable infrastructure ensures that Johnstown will have the same economic opportunities as other larger cities throughout the Commonwealth."

“This is great news for Cambria County and our region,” said President Commissioner Chernisky.  “Collaboration is working with federal, state, and local officials.  I would like to thank Congressman G. T. Thompson for being an advocate for the airport and Cambria County.  The DOT grant will help create an economy at the John Murtha Johnstown-Cambria Airport.”
Specifically, the grant will be used to rehabilitate the existing Runway 15/33 lighting system, which has reached the end of its useful life. The lighting system requires rehabilitation to enhance safe airfield operations during low visibility conditions. In addition, this project reconstructs 31 airfield guidance signs.

About The Grant

The grants strengthen our nation's aviation infrastructure. For more information, please visit the Department of Transportation website
