Rep. Thompson Issues Independence Day Statement

Bellefonte, PA – U.S. Representative Glenn 'GT' Thompson, R-Howard Township, made the following statement in honor of Independence Day:

“On this day, people from Pennsylvania and across the United States celebrate the date upon which our forefathers laid the foundation for American democracy through the adoption of the United States Declaration of Independence.

“For more than two centuries, America has served as a guiding light for the cause of freedom, the virtue of self-determination, and representative government. As we pause to celebrate the anniversary of America’s independence, let us honor the brave men and women who serve in uniform and have made – and continue to make – great personal sacrifices for our county.

“Let us also pray for those affected by the recent flooding which has impacted communities across Pennsylvania, especially those grieving over the loss of a loved one. These individuals need our support and the care of a helping hand more than ever.

“My wife, Penny, and I wish all Americans a happy and safe Independence Day.”
