Jersey Shore Student Accepts Fully-Qualified Appointment to Naval Academy

Titusville, PA – U.S. Representative Glenn ‘GT’ Thompson, R-Howard, announced today that Ian Eisenhauer of Jersey Shore has accepted a fully qualified appointment to attend the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland. Ian is the son of Walter and Doreen Eisenhauer and is currently a senior at Jersey Shore High School.

“I’m proud to make this announcement,” said Congressman Thompson. “Young men and women of Ian’s stature give me renewed hope that the future of our military is in capable hands. The education, leadership training and skills that these young people learn at the Naval Academy are second to none in the world. Ian is well prepared and will one day make a fine naval officer.”

Maintaining a 3.95 grade point average and a class rank of 6/216, Ian has excelled both in and out of the classroom. His membership in the National Honor Society, National Business Honor Society and active participation in student government demonstrates his commitment to furthering his education and betterment of the school community. Ian has also earned 8 varsity letters as a member of the track and field, cross county and swimming teams.

“Ian’s well rounded high school career will serve him well at the Academy. His commitment to academic achievement and athletic excellence are traits that will allow him to compete with the best and brightest students at the Naval Academy. I am grateful for his willingness to serve and wish him and his family all the best as he begins this journey of military service.”

The soon-to-be plebe’s paternal grandparents are the late Sylvester and Dorothy Eisenhauer formerly of Mill Hall, Pa., and maternal grandparents are Robert and Lila McCarthy of East Dennis, Massachusetts.
