House Passes National Defense Bill
Makes historic investments in our service members, ensures Americans will be protected at home and abroad
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Glenn “GT” Thompson voted in favor of the Streamlining Procurement for Effective Execution and Delivery and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2026.
Rep. Thompson released the following statement:
“The Streamlining Procurement for Effective Execution and Delivery and National Defense Authorization Act is one of the most important bills Congress takes up. This year’s bill improves service members’ quality of life, while equipping our military with the tools and resources to counter the rapidly growing threats from foreign adversaries and restore American deterrence. This bill also makes important changes to the Pentagon’s acquisition process by cutting through red tape and delivering much needed capabilities to our warfighters at a much faster pace.”
NDAA By The Numbers:
- Provides a 3.8% pay raise for service members including the 28,900 service members in Pennsylvania in addition to expanding military bonuses and special pay;
- Expands access to childcare for the 2,800 children of military families in Pennsylvania;
- Improves service members’ access to mental health services;
- Requires the Department of Defense to ensure the training and certification service members receive for occupations specialties in the military are transferrable to equivalent civilian occupations so separated service members do not need additional training; and
- Permits Veterans Service Organizations (VSOs) to participate in TAP in order to present information on the various tools and resources offered by VSOs and how those offerings may assist service members
