Howard, PA– On Wednesday, Congressman Thompson voted in favor of Senate Bill S.475 establishing Juneteenth National Independence Day, June 19, as a legal public holiday. 

"Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that marks the news of the Union prevailing and the abolishment of slavery finally reaching Galveston, Texas. This holiday should be an honest reflection upon America's struggles of the past and our ambitions towards a stronger and brighter future together."
